Methamphetamines is a central nervous system stimulant and is classified as a Schedule II drug. That means it is only legally gotten by a doctors prescription and cannot be refilled.

Methamphetamines is available as both a powdered and crystal form and is mostly manufactured in underground illegal labs.

Methamphetamines has many street names such as meth, speed, yabaa, crank, ice, crystal meth and many more.

Meth is usually smoked in glass pipes but can also be dissolved in water and injected, inserted into the anus, swallowed or snorted.

Taking even small amounts of methamphetamine can result in increased wakefulness, increased physical activity, decreased appetite, increased respiration, rapid heart rate, irregular heartbeat, increased blood pressure, increased libido and hyperthermia. When taken regularly or abused, the number of symptoms of meth use is multiplied.

Babies born with meth addiction can suffer from low birth rate, tremors, attention deficit disorder and other birth defects.

Crystal meth, produced on the streets, is a more toxic form of pure meth and it has a blue color, glass like appearance.

Methamphetamine is widely used to help lose weight quickly. This is however a temporary fix as people gain weight back equally quickly as soon as they stop using meth.

However in the early 1990's the market for crystal meth reopened and today it has grown tremendously, and the fight to curb this potential epidemic has been proven futile. In 2005, the National survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) released their crystal meth statistics that noted that 10.4 million people 12 years and over have tried meth at least once in their lifetime.

There is increase usage among young adults and is commonly associated with those who attend private clubs and parties. The homeless and gay populations have also recorded high stats when it comes to using crystal meth.

Methamphetamine is one of the most addictive drug available today. Addicts crave the sense of europhia methamphetamines produces when taken in large doses. Methamphetamine is easily produced using readily over the counter medication. The toxic form of methamphetamine that is produced on the  streets is called crystal meth.

The effects of crystal meth are much long lasting than methamphetamine. Hundreds of kilograms of this drug can be produced very cheaply in clandestine labs.
